Welcome to NorVol Jazz – the best place for promoting yourself in the north

Important Notice
“The NorVol Jazz network management group are proposing a change in status of the NorVol Jazz network in order to widen it’s scope and effectiveness. Our proposal is for the network to include not just jazz promoters, but offer membership to musicians and educationalists and other industry professionals. In this way we want the network to become an Advisory Group from the jazz industry sector in the North and so better inform the activities of the Jazz North organisation. We are aiming to relaunch the network with a new name, ‘The Northern Jazz Network‘, at the Manchester Jazz Festival, Saturday 25 May 2019, following the regular member meet-up in the morning.

Please give any comment your club may have on these proposals by your management group by Friday 8 February 2019 to and .

Family Band – JazzLeeds

Comprising four long-term collaborators and friends originally based in Leeds, the Family Band takes as its starting point the freewheeling music of those musicians who, back in the 1960s, were at the forefront of the free jazz revolution, but whose opening up of jazz’s constraints is now recognised as not a break from the past but an integral part of the music’s development. So Family Band doesn’t recreate the work of Ornette Coleman and others, but shares its powerful and freewheeling momentum – moments of fierce intensity, introspection and the blues all combining into an emotionally complex and often cathartic whole.
