CHARLOTTE KEEFFE QUARTET – Jazz At The Lescar
We hope you’re all doing OK. We’re really pleased to announce that the Jazz at The Lescar team will be running 4 gigs in the very near future, and more to follow we hope!
The first one is at 4:30 pm on Saturday 12th June, we’re really pleased to welcome a band led by trumpeter Charlotte Keeffe, one of the UK’s finest and most adventurous improvising musicians, a trumpet/ flugelhorn player with a wonderful expressive range, full of creative fire and imagination.
Charlotte’s quartet features guitarist Moss Freed, bass player Ashley John Long, and Ben Handysides on drums. They’ve previously sold out a performance at Lancaster Jazz Festival, and a live recording from London’s Jazz in the Round has been played on radio stations across the UK and internationally. They’ve just released a new album on Sheffield-based label Discus Music, called ‘Right Here, Right Now’.
Together their music is expansive and exciting, a perfect antidote! We really hope you can join us. You can find more details about tickets etc. at our Facebook event, here. (you can also find this in our Instagram bio).
We’d love to see you all, at this or one of our other forthcoming gigs. We’re so excited to think that we can put on live music again!
‘…Charlotte Keeffe’s blood-red, rasping flugelhorn and trumpet blew breathy cadences and messages as if her lungs were burning with an electricity all of her own.’
– Chris Searle, MORNING STAR
‘Fresh on the scene, trumpeter Charlotte Keeffe is a whirlwind of extended techniques and tactile puzzles, removing the mouthpiece to elicit a windy howl, using her left hand as a mute in the bell of the horn and revelling in restless possibilities.’
– Daniel Spicer, JAZZWISE MAGAZINE
